Summer Bucket List 2016

Every spring, we make a GIANT list of things we will do in the summer.  A bucket list, if you will.  We make the most of this grand season, soaking in the hot days and warm nights, running away from water fights, hammering nails, and planting gardens.  Check it out!

We took pictures for some things, but not all.  Completed items are in bold!  (We did pretty well this year!) 


Water balloon fight (We had a lot of hose water fights instead!)

Hike at Devil’s Lake State Park


Make Mud pies

Make sand castles at the beach


Play soccer


Blow bubbles

Make soap

Make play dough

Make wishes on dandelions


Eat ice cream 

Go to the zoo

Camping! (we camped at six different places this summer)


Go to the arboretum (played marco polo and hide and go seek) 

Have a picnic (we had picnics a lot – camping, hiking, in the parking lot of the library.  Because, you know, we’re adventurers) 


Liam make rice crispy treats

Build a treehouse

Go to the Library (we went weekly) 


Make zucchini bread

Make banana bread

Go swimming


Sign up for the reading program at the library

Children’s Museum visit (Chad took Liam with some friends) 

Ride bikes (Liam practiced his new bike, which took a lot of courage in our -very- hilly new neighborhood) 

Snuggle, of course (naturally)

Play tag (a lot!) 

Go to Governor Dodge

Visit Heartland Farm Sanctuary

Make a cake for no reason (Yes!) 

Make a dinner party for our friends (Finally had a Housewarming Party) 

Bake muffins (banana muffins, strawberry muffins, apple cinnamon muffins) 

Build a fort outside


Go to Chuck E Cheese (last big hurrah before school started!)


Make pancakes (pancakes for dinner!)

Slide into waterslide

Trip to Six Flags!

Fly a kite

Pillow fight (who are we kidding, we did this every week) 

Get new sketchbooks (and brought them to art museums to learn and draw the art)

Do paper mache

Go strawberry picking (got 22 lbs of strawberries) 

Taste of Madison

Renaissance Fair

SWING HIGH! (at Settler’s Park, where we’ll be getting married!)


Make and eat popcicles (we made smoothie popsicles!)

Do sidewalk chalk

Season pass to Monona Pool

American Players Theater and see Comedy of Errors

Milwaukee Art Museum

3/4/5/6/7 mile hikes

Art Cart

Boulders Climbing Gym

Face Painting

Concerts at King Street (Chad and I had a date night at this free concert downtown) 

Play mini-golf (we played at Pirate’s Cove in Traverse City!) 

Ride a carousel (Carousel and ice cream at Ella’s Deli)

Write stories and illustrate them

Go to the Chazen art museum

Go to Olbrich Botanical Gardens

Camp Randall Movie

Bonfire in backyard

Orton Park Fest

Monona 4th July Fest


Paint your own pottery studio

Spend the whole day at the beach

Catch fireflies – Liam decided he didn’t want to do this, because he heard that they die if you touch them!  We watched them in our yard many times, though 🙂
